Hello, sounds pretty slow indeed..Well, I have helpful suggestions to propose at your attention:

1) From vital importance for the thorough performance and speed to your PC has the number of downloaded( running programs). You need to remove all the programs that you do NOT use or use rarely or of little importance. You will see the change!

2) Use one of the hard disk cleaners. I would recommend you CCleaner, it's free and works fine. ( Or at least go to the desk cleanup and delete the not needed files+ Recycle Bin)

3) Check again for the compatibility between your anti-virus software and your firewall ( If you have)..Never make the mistake to have two anti-virus softwares downloaded on your PC, that may crash your PC or slow it down a lot)

4) Defragmentation is also essential, but If you've done it by yourself, you may have done some errors. I am suggesting you after the "Disc C" clean up, to download for free the excellent AusLogic software on your PC. ( it's doing for you the defragmentation). I use it, it's amazing!!

Wish you luck!
Have a great day!

I have an easy solution for you to speed up your pc. You probably have a slower pc trying to load tons of programs at startup. An upgrade in ram may help as well, at least 256 would help.

If your just wanting to make your computer run a little faster, try clicking on the start button, click run, then type "msconfig". Now click on the startup tab.
Here you will find all the programs that start when windows starts, some are unnecessary, like msn messenger. Make sure you can see the whole file name under Command, your looking for things that start with c:\program, these are programs you have installed, dont uncheck anything labeled c:\ windows.

Unchecking items that you dont often use will make windows run much faster, and this wont harm your system, because it doesnt delete anything......

Hope this helps, you may want to invest in a newer pc. You can find them cheap at tiger direct, I'll provide the link below.....

do ctl+alt+delete and see what programs are taking up alot memory. (may be windows update or virus update)

go to adminstrative tools in control panel. look at event logs and see if a program constantly stopping and starting

Look in your system tray and disable programs you don't need

do msconfig--go to startup tab-- uncheck programs you dont need at startup
