If you really wanna be a fashion designer then do it!!! Start learning how to sew, start learning how to draw better and start designing and making your own clothes dont just do something you dont want to do, do something you'll love but stay in the nurse program thing because if you dont succeed as a fashion designer you could always be a nurse or a school teacher but never give up on your dreams! Go to a fashion design college there not only located in new york there are probably other states that have a fashion design college(: Good luck and anything is possible if you set your mind to it

well. i work as a nurse's aide and i'm going to school for nursing, so i'm biased, but here's my opinion anway....
fashion designing is more competitive and you have to have alot of talent and the right amount of "it" to compete- not everyone may like your friend's fashion sensibility (no offense). also, you have to be able to "sell" your self and get a client base which takes time. so to get paid the high $$ in fashion designing may happen after years of making mistakes and learning the right way to go about things.

nursing (which is what i'm doing) pays on average about $20+ an hour right out of school-BUT IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!! we need nurses so much, but the shifts are long, the stress is high, and you may be surrounded by sickness and suffering all day long, depending on what type of nursing you get into. it is totally worth it to me, though. i feel like i'm making a difference in this world, plus there will always be a guaranteed job no matter where i go. the paycheck s aren't too skimpy. but please, if your friend wants to become a nurse, let her/him know that the amount of compassion, courage and interest in all things medical she/he has to share should be involved in making this decision, not how much $$ is made doing it.

A nurse would be a regular income every month of about £1,200 in the hand if qualified. A fashion designer i have no idea look at Stella McCartney it could be millions, but could be nothing in the hand every month if you arnt succesful.

Unless she has a real gift for design she will be paid more as a nurse. Anything with design in the title tends to be poorly paid unless one is brilliant

If this is what she is thinking, she would make a lousy uncaring nurse. On the other hand, maybe she should try nursing, she might learn sense of what really matters.
