Some Science homework, I have no idea!

The question is:

When cleaning a room, some poeple say that you should dust the furniture before you vacuum the carpet. Others insist that it is better to vaacuum the carpet before dusting the furniture.

(a) What order is more sensible?

(b) Give a valid reason

And remember, this has to do with static electricity, not housework!

a) I suppose you should vacuum first.
b) If your carpet is made of synthetic fiber (most of ours are) then the beating of the plastic bristles of the vacuum will create a static charge. Dust particles love to cling to statically charged furnishings (look how they cling to your TV screen). So dust first, before it binds to the carpet.

the order depends on where you live. if you are in an area that is humid, vacuum first to remove the dampness, then dust and wait for 30 minutes before vacuuming again. if you live in an arid area, dust first, then vacuum
