If I know the direction, I will surely help (show the way, draw a map, send them if I am driving etc.). I have been approached many times and I have always tried to be helpful. Even if I don't know, I would still try (phone a friend, ask someone else or call a cab etc.). I believe most Malaysians are friendly and helpful. Maybe some will not do so because of a bad experience or unable to communicate in your language. Just be careful who you ask.

I have found Malaysian people are 100% friendly and would try to help in any which way that they can.

I was once so mabok/drunk (I've not had a drink for nearly 2 years now, by the way) that I fell down and fell asleep on the pavement on the way home.

The next thing I knew a car pulled over and 2 'Chinese type gangsters' jumped out and approached me. I must admit I was somewhat takut/scared, but I was quite surprised when they picked me up and got me on the back seat of their car and took me all the way home and waited until I was back in my house before driving off (I never did get to meet them guys ever again, so thanks for that, God will bless you for that)

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that even the 'gangsters' are very nice and helpful people in Malaysia, so, what more to say about the 'ordinary' folks!!

there are 'art' in asking ! of course no one wanted to just blindly asks anyone on the street for direction, picks your target carefully to avoid unnecessary potential trouble. The tip is asks those at the shop/store, student, worker etc etc. if you only speak English of course try to avoid asking old makcik/pak cik or ah sow/ ah pek as chances are that they may not able to understand, BUT unfortunately that moron stupid idiot Dave never know, he chose the robber ! if Malaysian don't know English then he answered in this section by using what **** language ?

Answering too an 'art'. if some one asks for some funny location when you are alone, do you wanted to entertain ? just say sorry !

i have travel almost the entire Malaysia n never having any problem in getting direction from city folks or kampung people ! n i feel great n proud being able to assist in showing any stranger direction !

haha, of course most people would help if they know the answer to your questions. i've been travelling around the country high and low and i was never dismissed nor have i ever dismissed people who asked for directions..when people say 'donnoe' lets just take it they really do not know, ok?

Well, just give him a direction how to get them is much more better. Draw a map is enuf.
In america they always teach their children do not talk to strangers. its really anoying if you just asking direction and they just ingore you not replying. dont you think so.

to be honest. it kinda depends.

if you are asking me about how to get to some random clubs. i most probably will just ignore.

but, if you sound truthfully lost and want to get your way back to the hotel or something. the least i could do is show you to the nearest taxi- stand
