im not speaking for everybody, i have come to terms that this is a dead issue, and abortion will have to be an individualized decision.
i do not condone it. if a girl was raped, pregnant, and asking me of my opinion, i would tell her not to get an abortion. if there was a birth defect, i would tell them not to get an abortion.
i am less than credible, however, being a single white male i cannot begin to understand the reprocussions of rape, but if you asked me my opinion, i would give it to you, don't have the abortion.
i do, however, work closely with individuals who have been incapacitated by disabilities from birth, and have to say, my life would be worth much, much less without the presence of these wonderful individuals i have come to love. don't have the abortion.
life is such a precious thing to me, and i cannot fathom being without the people i now know. you ask me if i agree with you? i can reason with your understanding, but i don't agree with you, don't have the abortion.

I am pro-choice but do not agree with it being used as repeated methods of birth control. In a perfect world there would be no need for abortion but this isn't a perfect world. Through the history of time as long as there has been pregnancies there have been abortions. What the law does provide is a safe medical environment for it to be preformed in. A woman will is a woman's will and that can never be denied.
As far as rape and statistics show most women are raped by someone known to them and most of them go unreported that would be a difficult to regulate abortions with that method. Rape to most woman is a sense of shame and grief, why should they have to go through twice the pain in order to receive medical treatment.

Well Sam....
It shouldn't be an issue in today's world. At least not here in the US and at least if the woman immediately seeks help after a rape. They regularly give the woman the morning after pill in the emergency room. And... if there are emergency rooms that don't, they should. Not every woman who gets raped, gets pregnant. Give her the pill and a woman will never have to know whether or not she was pregnant and it takes away the trauma of also having to deal with a unwanted/planned pregnancy and ultimtely the decision whether or not to terminate a pregnany under those circumstances.
I have less problem with it being handled in that way rather than performing abortions once the cells start multiplying and dividing.

I am pro life as well and I see your point. My question is, why do we need abortion clinics? Why can't a doctor or hospital help patients like those you describe? That would help the extreme cases for which it is medically necessary (plus rape) and cut down on abortion as birth control which many people feel is flat out wrong.

Then you are not pro-life. Pro-lifers don't beleive a woman should EVER get an abortion in any circumstance. You are pro-choice, even if you would never have one yourself.

Ideals and reality are often at conflict. Ideas only exist in your head.
And as I always say, if there is something wrong with reality, whatevers wrong is not reality.
