Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
Vikram Mehmi joined Idea Cellular Ltd in 1999 as Chief Financial Officer. In the year 2003 he was responsible for the largest financial closure in the telecom sector to the tune of over Rs 5000 cr. project cost. Vikram is presently the Chief Executive Officer, one of India’s premier cellular service companies. As CEO, he has spearheaded the largest telecom acquisition of Escotel Mobile Communications Ltd.
He has an extensive work experience of 28 years in fund raising and implementing financial systems across multiple industry domains. He has handled a domestic and an international IPO besides raising substantial debt from diverse sources.
Mr.Mehmi was working with NTPC as the Chief Finance Manager (1980-1993) for around 13 years.
In 1993 was appointed as the Deputy General Manager (Finance) at ONGC where he had a stint for around 4 years.
Prior to commencing operations at Idea cellular Mr. Mehmi has been working with leading telecom company, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (VSNL) in Mumbai as the Chief General Manager. He worked there for around 3 years. He left VSNL in the year 1999 and took responsibility as the Chief Financial Officer at Idea Cellular, the Indian cellular giant.
Academically, Mr Mehmi holds a bachelor’s degree in Science from Delhi University, and MBA in Marketing & Finance.
