why just 4? If it helps you when really stressed but do remember that it is not a good thing and certainly do not do it regularly. A lot of us had parents that smoked so it is not the worse thing that you can do. Spoil yourself eat really special food. Alcohol is of course also not a good idea but as with all things you have to be the judge and try to do the best you can as we all want our children to have every advantage so that living will be easier for them and they will be brighter and healthier so remember the big picture and it is only for a few months and on top of that it is better for your health and your finances if you do not smoke at all. You now have the best reason in the world as it is definitely considered bad for the child's health and bad for yours. Also talk to your partner he may be able to give you some advice or encouragement or special reward for this difficult time.

I smoked through 2 pregnancies, 7 smokes a day, and had two beautiful healthy BIG babies.
One 10lb 5oz, other 10lb 8oz.
Don't believe all you hear about it reducing birth weight and the rest of the ****.
As long as you aren't smoking continuously and cut down I think it's fine. I believe it's more important for a relaxed mum during pregnancy and if you find it too stressfull to give up altogether, don't.
Our parents never knew the "harms" of smoking during pregnancy and we're alright aren't we?

I tell you, everyone is going to tell you to quit for the baby, and yes you should, but I explained to my doctor that the Stress of not smoking would also be harmful to the baby, well it was my reasoning I did smoke during my pregnancy, I did try to cut down though, even my doctor told me that if I ever had a reason to quit it should be now. (meaning when I was pg.) but alot of nasty looks and comments were made about me smoking during my pregnancy but I ignored them, every thing turned out ok. you can probably take a survey and 50% of the people will say they smoked.

NO. if you care at all about your baby you won't smoke AT ALL during your pregnancy or afterwards! I have asthma and was born 7 weeks early because my mom couldnt stop smoking. My lungs were under-developed and had to stay in the hospital for 3 months after being born on tubes and in a box. If you care at all about the baby you WILL STOP SMOKING and start taking prenatal vitamins and get regular doctor check-ups and eat healthy. And don't start smoking after delivery either, secondhand smoke KILLS too. Please. Stop.

It is not advised to smoke at all during your pregnancy but I know of a lot of people that have and their kids, including my own, came out fine or with minor problems. Depending on the rest of your health, you may or may not have problems. It is best just not to smoke. Good luck!!

If you want to, but think of what you will be doing to your unborn child.
Why not try to give that child the best possible start in life and give up, for at least the duration of your pregnancy.

NO NO NO! if you smoke during or even after pregnancy you are just being SELFISH! you are going to hurt that child if you continue smoking! What if you get sick? you are going to hurt your kids and that is just SELFISH! smoking is not necessary! Its just a deadly stick! You are committing suicide and murder (if you smoke while pregnant and if you smoke around the child) STOP SMOKING

Yes. you can if you don't care if the child's lungs are underdeveloped, or has asthema when he/she's born or if you don't mind low body weight, and premature birth possibility. Go ahead. Smoke. It's only the life of a baby at stake.
Please re-think this....

Forget it dear. Stop even thinking about smoking if you care for your baby. Not even just a drag because you do not want to screw up your baby's health and make her/him suffer.
