What about "Hope this makes sense."?

Pedants always sound condescending which is why you find it so irritating. Its a strange human traint that whatever iritates you in someone else is usually something that you do all the time. Look in the mirror.

Depends if you worry about things that are'nt worth worrying about. I have said "Hope this helps" before now and it was meant as the words said. Its cyber space after all, you wont be feeling any slight pats on the back will you.
I suppose if you are cynical most things could be seen in a negative light. Maybe your glass is half-empty.
Most I have talked to on the net use the LOL, LMAO as a relative thing to show a level of amusement. It would only be lame to one with no sense of empathy as far as I can see.

Just get over it, it is just a generalised way for someone to say they hope their answer will help you as many people trail off from the question into the depths of their own thoughts and may not quite be the answer you were looking for. And 'lol' is just someone expressing their feelings online... its very hard to judge the way someone says something online in comparison to real life... just check out expressions and body language you use day to day when talking to real people.... Now try to use that online... Cant? No, thought not!

It could be but it's usually not. For me, it just depends on the message content. I can usually read between the lines and get the drift of what's being said and how it's meant. Don't really mind the computer language. It's faster and saves typing it out all the way.

I don't find the phrase "hopes this helps" condescending. Someone is offering advice and is hoping that you can use it. How is that feeling disrespectful?

abbreviations are okay in cyberspace. one can spend a lot of time typing, clicking and negotiating between windows, formats etc..

You sound as though you should learn to meditate

I say that and I truly mean it when I say it. I don't use it on every answer, but ones that I think matter and that the person may need to hear some kindness. I am only being polite and friendly whilst being courteous. Like someone else said I think you need to relax a little.

It's just someone trying to be polite and wishing that there input is useful, what could possibly be wrong with that ?

And, as you are on the internet it's normal to see computer language, if you don't like it meet real people

extra effectual than Homer's neighbor saying hey-diddley-do. yet incredibly, if somebody pronounced that to me, so help me, i might ask them to movie star in my next snuff movie. Frog splat smells much less.

I dunno, there are some instances where you do actually hope that something helps.

Ok, (now I've looked up what condescending means), I can see what you're saying, although some people never use it in that way. I know I haven't.
