This is really a good question at this time as many worm viruses hijack any-ones password which are not so strong. A strong password contains min of 6 digit and mix n match with alpha-numerical combination. So try to give unique password in combination with numeric n alphabetical. Try to go for long password that will be hard to understand to some low level viruses.
If possible change your password every 15 days or 30 days maximum.
whenever you surf in public places like cyber cafe , first check the Internet option that everything related to Internet is by default or not. like security ,password, and so on by clicking explorer icon to right click and check the properties.
Though there are lots of lattest virus threads which cannot be controlled by this simple formula for that you need live virus cleaner which can save you and your computer by many viruses.
Still its a big question to save your password or your computer data safe.
So be careful while surfing on net by not downloading spam email content files or not opening any emails which does not belong to you either.
Sam.

This is only a small portion I got from the link below, it will help you to create a good password. Also, you may want to invest in a good password program, such as TK8.....They give you a free trial!
What makes a strong password
To an attacker, a strong password should appear to be a random string of characters. The following criteria can help your passwords do so:
Make it lengthy. Each character that you add to your password increases the protection that it provides many times over. Your passwords should be 8 or more characters in length; 14 characters or longer is ideal.

Choose passwords that are as long as allowed by the software. Make your passwords at least 10 or 12 characters long. Short passwords do not leave enough choices to prevent their being guessed by repeated trials. Ideally your password should contain at least one character from each of the following categories:
* upper case letters (ABC)
* lower case letters (abc)
* digits (123)
* punctuation and other symbols (!$%)
