I'm nurse and I can tell you that it is a lot less traumatic for a man to get a vascectomy then it is for a woman to get a hysterectomy. A woman would have to stay in the hospital for a day or two and go through actual surgery. A man can just go into the clinic and have the vascectomy done by a doctor taking less than an hour, when I saw it done it took less then 30 minutes. The guy got up and walked himself out of the room after the procedure and went home with some pain pills. I would reccommed that the gentleman go through with the procedure because it is much less invasive than a hysterectomy.

The Man should have the vasectomy. About 80% of women who have had a tubleigation will end up with a hysterectomy within five years which of course is harder on her than a vasectomy will ever be on a man. Because it changes the body chemistry and they have to use hormone replacement which can lead to different types of cancer.

A vasectomy is far less invasive, relatively pain free, takes about 20 minutes in a doctor's office and is reversable. A hysterectomy is major surgery that requires hospitalization. Why put a woman through such a procedure when a far simpler solution is the vasectomy. Its easy...I had mine done 7 years ago. One recommendation for the guys: if they offer you valium before the procedure...take it!!!!

It should be whomever doesn't want more children. My ex husband and I had 2 kids while we were married and I didn't want anymore. We went in and talked to the doctor and they suggested a vasectomy because it is less invasive so he a bit reluctantly got one. Then a few years later we divorced. Now I'm out here dating and really wishing that I didn't have to worry about getting pregnant again and he is in a serious relationship with a girl that would really like children. Follow your heart and do what you think is best for you.

The man should have the procedure. His is an out patient procedure, and really nothing to it at all.
A Hysterectomy should only be done if the woman is having problems, it is very invasive and she is out of commission for at least 6 weeks. (very drastic)
Tube tying can come undone also, so it is best for the man, to be a man and take care of it.

The male should get snipped; it's a simple out-patient procedure. For a woman to get her tubes tied is a full surgery, with lots more risk.
