All the other countries that came running to us for help after WWII that's who. The US was at that time following a strict policy of isolation. We did not want to be involved in any more wars. When Japan attacked we were not given any choice so we went out and took care of business. After the war all the countries especially the Europeans came to us for help and we helped. Then the other countries of the world came to us and asked for help and again we helped. We helped found the UN and the UN is how we got involved in Korea. France cut and run from Vietnam and so we got roped into helping there. This is when congress decided it could run a war better than the generals on the ground. That was a joke. We know we cut and ran there. Now it is happening again. Again congress thinks it can do war better than the generals and if the democrat controlled congress gets its way we will cut and run again. But there are already cries for our help in more countries. I guess our only option is to keep helping.

Russia and the US were the only countries with any money left after the second world war. Then the US won the cold war which left it as the sole superpower. Really, if you want to blame one sole person, blame Hitler for starting the second world war. Prior to that the role of superpower was pretty much up in the air. There was a worldwide recession so there wasn't really any one country that could honestly say "I've got the money and the military to take over!" It was more like several countries eyeing each other suspiciously and wondering who was going to try to make the first move.
