Australia will not win the one-day world cup

It was 2 weeks ago Australian captain Ricky Ponting confidently said their under-strengthed team would win the Chappell-Hadlee series against NZ - they lost 3-nil

It was 4 weeks ago the Australian coach Bertrand called for some 'real competition' for his team in the tri-nation Commonwealth Bank series. Australia lost the final 2-nil

I had thought up to this point Ponting was a great young captain following in the likes of Waugh & Border. However he has proved recently to show a lack of maturity through arrogance - a recipe I believe will cost him the captaincy & Australia the World Cup

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties nothing can be predicted about any tournament in advance.

Though the strength of Australia has depleted due to injury to some of their key players, Australia can still pose a challenge in the world cup if all their available players play to their potential.
