Obviously it is a trainee role and I'm not expecting much as I'll be gaining through the training offered, though I would like to hope for abit more over minimum wage.

I haven't much web experience, though I've worked with dream weaver and have basic knowledge of that side though my stronger side is the design aspect, having alot of experience in Graphic Design.

What should I be ideally aiming for?

I'm not sure as a trainee, but once you have more experience, then 20-22 per hour.

Learning how to do Flash will be a great asset for you.

Not too sure about UK but in Germany and South Africa very poor! Too much competition, lots of good and cheap oakes out there with plenty of experience and willing to work 24/7 for nothing. My tip: Try to get into a big international corporate that might not do the most fanciest of designs but a) you will learn solid skills and they usually have the professional packages and b) pays well and there might be better growth potential and international influence. Normally you drive better with this. Lots of friends do funky cool design jobs on the side and make more cash that way and fuel their creative ego! Design in general is a tough profession (Industrial Deisgner myself) and if you are looking to have an easier, richer live you might want to look at accountant or lawyer. Do it for the love of it and because your purely cannot do anything else and because it makes your heart race! enjoY!
