two days ago my neighbor caught a thief IN HIS HOUSE! this is a great neighborhood and stuff like this never happens. oh, the thief broke in when EVERYBODY was at home, and that was at 3 in the afternoon. eversince it happened, i triple check to see if the door is locked, i don't take a shower until i close all the windows and i am obsessed about hearing funny noises. do you think i'm going crazy? will i stop acting like this>? i don't get stressed easily but this is just consuming all my energy

I understand that it is more dangerous for a thief to break in your house when you are there because you never know if he carries a weapon!

About a year ago 3 burglars broke into the flat right next to ours and when I came home I saw them going down the stairs but didn`t even think that they were thiefs, until later that evening, when the neighbours came and rang our door to say that someone came into their flat while they were away.

I stay alone most of the time cos my parents work many hours but I don`t worry cos it never happened to me! So don`t panic, be calm and the best way of keeping yourself protected is of course to lock everything when you go away or take a shower, and don`t forget to have your phone inside your bedroom so if something happens you can call the police or anyone else immediately!

But I can maybe make you more relaxed if I told you that the possibilities for the same or any thief to strike somewhere close to the place he striked before is almost 0!

You'll get over it after a while, its a scary thing. The nerve of people- especially at 3 in the afternoon. Just make sure that your doors are locked and you should be okay. I would think that they wouldn't hit the same area again. Talk to your neighbors, maybe you all could start a neighborhood watch. I keep a metal baseball bat behind my door. If it's dark, and I hit him.... ding!!!

my home was broken into about 3 years ago and they did not steal a thing. i was the same way and stayed that way for a while. i know they did not break into your house but its all just about the same. it is very wise to always be cautious. i work as a 911 dispatcher and you would not believe the calls we get in for this same reason. if you ever think someone is breaking in please don't hesitate to call for help. you may feel like you are crazy when you find out there is no one there. but it just may take one time for you to make the call and actually be right. i don't think it would even matter if this happened or not..everyone should act the way you are acting for there own safety because this day and time you never know whats gonna happen and when...take care...

if u live home alone, then its all in the brain. during the summer holis id be home alone in broad daylight and keep hearing noises, slamming car doors in the driveway, floorboards creeking etc. and once there WAS a guy in the house, family friend tho. got him to the floor with a knife poised to the back of his neck and im only a young teen. dont worry, everythings ok, its just ur mind playing up. if u live with someone then ull probs feel a lot more safer..

If it was someone who'd broken in during the night and threatened him with some weapon, then you should be worried. Being in the middle of the afternoon, probably just a random thing.

hey dainka!!!!!

listen dont worry, its normal to be a bit causious after something like that, since its an unusal occurance. where i live its not that unusual so ppl dont really act like that because it doesnt shok them any more. but it did shock u so how ur acting is normal. it will stop after a while but ull still be more causious in the future.

try to have a nice day

It's always great to be safe. Are you living alone? because maybe you should get a dog. Even a small dog will alert you to someone entering your house. They usually will hear it before you do. Also, I sleep with .22 hand gun on my head board, just knowing that it's there makes me feel better.

Be glad no one was murdered or raped! You'll always be careful from now on but you will start to feel safe again after a while.
