ive just read skimmed through the 1001 books to read before you die...and its amazing how many of the modern recommended books are about scuzzy inner city lives, or drug addiction or madness or depravity loneliness mental decay etc etc.

arent there any positive uplifting books out there?

Try Dave Gorman, Danny Wallace or Tony Hawks.
They all write about coming up with a crazy idea and sticking with it until the bitter end.
For example, Dave Gorman had a bet that he couldn't find 54 other Dave Gormans. So he travelled the world finding Dave Gormans or "nearly" Dave Gormans or flying somewhere and just missing them.
Really funny and quite inspiring in a weird sort of way!

while i dont like to read misery and gloom im afraid im an offender hun i do write poetry and it ends up mostly doom and gloom shall i go sit myself on top of the pile of books and tellys soz
