English language music seems to spread a LOT further than others, and the industry here for foreign language music is not very strong. The only group I know of to do well is Rammstein from Germany.

Although in saying that my best mate does love French Hip-Hop so the music definately is drifting across the channel to us.

That's a fantastic point! It seems like if a band isn't singing in English they'll never get promoted in an English speaking country. It's the same in the U.S. I think it really sucks that we don't get French rock or any other Country's rock for that matter. The only non English band that ever got any publicity in the US was Rammstein from Germany and even that was short lived. I think we should all start protesting the lack of musical variety on the radio and other forms of media. Viva la French rock!!

It's not just that most English speaking countries don't understand other languages. I think it's the record company's don't push any different language acts. Some have had moderate success in Britain eg Vanessa Paradis, Enrique Iglesias (i know he still sings mostly in English). People just assume that English speaking countries are lazy when it comes to learning languages which in a way is true but countries like France and Germany have a big helping hand with English because of Hollywood and the music industry.

I apologise for the arrogance of the previous answers. Sadly, most English-speaking people have no interest in other languages and so would not listen to French rock music. We are influenced too much by the American music scene.
I think the only French rock hit in this country was "Ca Plane Pour Moi" by Plastic Bertrand in 1978(?)
When I was at school my French teacher used French pop/rock music to help us learn French - I liked the music of Gerard Lenorman in the late 1970s.
Now, my daughter is 17 and is studying French. She just bought the recent CD of Pierrick Lilliu (Besoin d'espace) and she says it's very good.
Come on, the rest of Britain, open your ears to what else is happening in the world, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm in Australia and we don't get anything French here either. I guess it's because the radio stations don't play music in other languages because we don't necessarily understand French (or German, Spanish, Italian...).

Some alternative radio stations might play a bit of French now and then. I know 'Camille' and 'Emiliana Torrini'. They're cool.

'Air' are French, oui? (But sing in English)

Cause people understand english better than french. I mean most people from france understand english but in the UK or in the states aren't so many frenchspeaking people.
It's the same with german rock music. We have a lot of good bands. And the only one well known is Rammstein. It's a pitty.

Because, as P.J. O'Rourke once said, too much French rock sounds like someone chasing Edith Piaf around a nightclub with an electric hedge trimmer.

Having said that, I'll raise my glass to Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg and Les Negresses Vertes...

classic Rock won't be a lot a music style, its full of a lot of sub genres like psychedelic rock and blues and stuff like that. that may no longer a bad factor, its superb to be sure a teenager get excitement from actual expertise. ignore approximately your "buddies" and don't provide in to be sure presssure.

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/AdxS3 an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.
