Rice to confer with diplomats about Iran -- Yahoo reports on its page today

BERLIN - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice planned to confer with European diplomats ahead of a likely push for new sanctions on Iran over its disputed nuclear program.

Rice scheduled a strategy meeting Thursday with European and Russian diplomats as a U.N. deadline loomed for Iran to stop enriching uranium. Enrichment is a key step toward building a bomb, as the West claims the Islamic republic intends to do. Iran says it merely wants to develop peaceful nuclear power.

Iran called for talks with the United States — but did not budge on council demands that it mothball its enrichment program.

IRAN wants to talk - just like N. Korea did early on.

Why are Bush and his croonies holding up progres by not engaging in foreign diplomacy?

Our troops deserve at least that much dont they?

One would have toquestion the judgement of bush supporters anyway. Since Bush has proven (with his sidesteppign the vietnam war) not leading through example when he failed to do what hes asking our troops to do -- give the ultimate sacrifice

When the prince guy from england is joining his military and asking to be deployed, and our president avoids involvement in vietnam, what does that say about this leader?

And all those that support him?

drbuns -- it is grown men acting like chidlren. Children dont know how to be diplomatic, instead avoid the other at all cost, and even resort to bullying others.

When even our our president makes comments like whether or not weapons are coming from Iranina president -- withno proof, he still wil do something
what kind of crap is that?

everyone knows bush is full of crap 65% of americans do.
Now we know you are too

We're all stuck in the middle. If we pull out and stop all of this bullchit, we make ourselves back in the states, much much more prone to attacks such as 9/11 (because pretty much everyone hates us.) So I would have to say one small thing.. that I haven't noticed anyone doing anything about..OUR BORDERS (Shut em' down..no traffic)? More patrol to the north (That's Canada..) No mid-east flights coming in or going out... I mean, you'd think that would be common sense.. to stop the trouble BEFORE they even get over here in the states.. just waiting for the most oppurtune time to make another 9/11. Oh, need I mention It'd also help the jobless of our nation in opening up all those Seven-Elevens ya see on the corner of a street and hotel jobs..right or wrong?

If you'd quit reading the STUPID NEWSPAPERS, and go onto the whitehouse.gov web site, you could hear the WHOLE story and not just what the media slants on.

According to Article 7 of the UN council, Iran had 24 hours left to come back to the table. HE is keeping EVERYONE waiting because he wants ALL NATIONS to give up nukes and then he will. This tells me that he really did make plans for enriching the uranimun into weapons grade. They did take delivery of 12 Ground to Air Missiles this past December from Russia.

BUSH KEEPS INVITING HIM TO THE TABLE AND HE REFUSED TO COME. Get the right news from the real source. Tony Snow at the White House said they're getting a little tired of the media putting spins on what they say. THERE ARE NOT INTENTIONS ON GOING TO IRAN. Cripes, why don't all of you people get the real 'guts of the story' instead of the half-baked, made as they go garbage the media reports.

First one is interview with 3 terrorist who are now practicing tolerance.

United State Federal Gov. official web site above.

Besides, why the H are you listening to what Berlin has to say. They told Rice we can not have missile interceptors there and we could be inviting another arms race. So Rice said she was disappointed BECAUSE Poland and the Chez republic are in harms way if Iran sets off their Ground to Air Missiles and point them in that direction

If you look into any of the so-called "Conspiracy THEORY" websites or videos you will see that this whole Middle Eastern war thing has been in the planning for a very long time. And, despite the push to make us all believe we are running out of oil and there is going to be an economic breakdown like never before, the entire middle eastern situation is about forcing them into the european banking system, ie, The Federal Reserve.

We will definitely be going to war with Iran.

If it took a one-on-one at the table to stop a war why not? I think Bush has the attitude to handle himself with someone like Iran in that scene. There is too much talking to "others" why not just face up and get it out in open. You may be surprised how it could come out.

Geoge Bush's ego prevents him from talking with anyone that considers themselves above him.

And the leader of Iran is an educated intellectual that speaks several languages and has written several books.

Iran "says" it wants to talk. There is a big difference between that and truly wanting a discussion. If you understood anything about the fundamentalist Islamist, you would know that the making of promises and outright "lying" to infidels is totally acceptable both morally and spiritually, because we are less than human to them. Attempting to defuse any intervention by the Western world in their plans until IRAN is ready is simply a delaying tactic. Bringing them into the discussion only buoys up their moral and is, ultimately, pointless.

As usual, with this administration, THEY are the "deciders."Bush has had this all planned out, as he did with Iraq. He is looking to antagonize those poor Iranians to the point where they have had enough, and begin to fight back. With bush proclaiming himself the "war" president, this is exactly what he wants. Don't think he can leave office without starting another deceitful war, do you?

Bush has a pathological aversion to talking with anyone who might disagree with him. In the case of those countries he has labled as "evil", he routinely refuses to sit down at the negotiating table unless the other party is already acting on everything that he wishes them to do. He doesn't seem to grasp that the negotiating table is the place where you're supposed to make these agreements, and so situations escalate when they might have been diffused. I have no idea why he's like this.

Ahmadinejad threatens violence and insults our president and country, and you would expect the administration to retaliate or try to have civilized discourse with them???

Iran doesn't want to talk. This is being distorted. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly expressed a desire to have a one-on-one debate with Bush, with the intent to riducule and insult him personally. I don't think that is progress. I think it is grown men acting like children.
