Who told you that light cannot travel through vaccum space?Whole space is one vaccum. Never you wondered that why we are able to see stars? Light coming from stars travel through vaccum space and reach to our eyes.
Don't you know about 'W-map' satellite? How they were able to catch pictures of space and everything? Light can travel through vaccum.

I believe it is called Planck's constant: the speed of light in a vacuum where it is in its best environment. Light is at its fastest and most powerful in a vacuum. Think of it this way, we need our atmospheric layers BECAUSE light travels unimpeded through space and there are certain types/wavelengths of light that don't do so well on humans like microwaves, ultraviolet rays, and some infrared rays. So, our atmosphere filters out some of those harmful rays because there is nothing else in space to do that same job. Hope that helped.

I think you're confusing sound with light. Light actually travels better in space because the interstellar medium contains so little matter that would otherwise block light.

On the other hand, sound waves need some sort of medium to travel, which is a good thing... otherwise the universe would be a noisy place indeed!

I think you have light and sound confused together, light DOES travel in vacuum or else we wouldn't see the light of sun or any other celestial object, but it is sound that requires a medium to travel through since sound is a mechanical wave and is transmitted by means of the vibration of the molecules of the medium but light is an electromagnic wave which doesn't require a medium in order to propagate.

Who the hell told you that? You ought to ask them why stars and such are visible. Light is comprised of photons. Photons actually travel a great deal BETTER in a vacuum due to lack of atmoshperic interference.

because moon's illumination comes from the earth, it reflects our light, you can't see the light in between earth and moon as it has no matter, but matter has the property of reflecting light.
