Suggest any what? You didn't finish your question so it's hard to figure out what you want. I guess if you really want to get some peaceful sleep you'll first have to put your bad times in proper perspective. You are alive and have the ability to make new choices and head off in a new direction. If you need new skill sets, get them. Educational opportunities abound and getting financial aid is rarely an issue outside of Third World countries. There are hundreds of stories of people prevailing over seemingly impossible situations. It has almost become a cliche. If you want medication to sleep then see a doctor. If you want to try something herbal, go to some websites and check it out.

I had this problem too, because of the problems I had through my early age!
If you don't wanna go to a specialist (which is a taboo nowadays unfortunately), try to make some calming exercises!
Before you sleep lie down and close your eyes! Try to be in a position that is comfortable for you! Then begin feeling every part of your body and try to release the captivated energy! Do this from legs to head! One part at a time!Don't rush! Then think of a place that there is no else but you and there is nothing there to disturb you!A place like your happy place! Think that you are there for about 5-10 minutes and try not to think of anything else!
This exercise worked for me, but it needs concentration!
Drinking a glass of warm milk with honey is also calming!

Try to have a piece of bread and a glass of warm milk. It may help you to sleep. Or you can do some exercises to relax and relief stress during your free time so that you can sleep at night. Avoid coffee and tea.

It could be stress related, could be many things.

1. Pillows or mattress of bed not comfortable
2. Stress at work/ family/ someone attempting to kill ya
3. Full belly
4. Many others more ^_^

Consult a doctor get a prescribed sleeping medication.
If not, drink some alcohol, but in my case it helps me stay awake.
Warm milk could help, but not proven.

Take care.

Try melatonin, I take it for the same reason, stress, and all the stuff that's running through my head. I don't want to take any prescription stuff for the fact I don't want to go to the doctors. It helps alot. 8 full hours of sleep is the result that I get. Good luck.

If i have a problem trying to sleep at night, I drink a small glass of red wine. I will fall asleep within 15 mins. Give it a try, maybe it will help you.

It is so easy to get addicted to sleep aids. There is a natural one that you might want to try.The essential amino acid "L-tryptophan" helps support relaxation, restful sleep, mood, stress response, and feeling better. Here's a website where you can compare prices and read more about it.

I also listen to cd's with ocean music or nature sounds. I like to have a small fan turned on in the room. It just gives off a cozy, airy feeling that is relaxing.

Could be related to anxiety or depression or fear or excitement. Try assessing whether any of these could be resulting cause.

- Do not watch tv or computer just before bed
- warm to hot mug of milk before bed
- warm bath before bed
- any thoughts stopping you from sleeping - jot them down
- read a heavy or boring book
- Chamomile tea
- lavender oil
- Do not have any caffiene (in tea coffee and chocolate) any time in evening.

Best of luck
