I think that too often, people confuse a soulmate with what I would term a life partner. Wikipidia defines a soulmate as someone with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, friendship, love, intimacy, sexuality, and/or compatibility. The key term there is "and/or", meaning that you don't even have be physically or sexually attracted to someone in order for them to be a 'soulmate.' I have an extremely close friend from college that I consider my soulmate; we met on my 18th birthday, and just understood eachother so completely that we knew we had spent other lives together. However, there was not a physical attraction, and I eventually met and married my husband, who has been a wonderful life partner and who supports and loves me and our children. I honestly feel that I was meant to meet and marry this man, but that doesn't make him my 'soulmate.' I just believe that the term soulmate is used too loosely, and actually refers to the other person or persons, whether here on earth or elsewhere, who completes that other side of you, who just knows and understands you.
It's kind of like those friendship necklaces; they're your other half. But it doesn't always mean that this is your life partner and you are destined to marry that person. I think people too often get confused with these, and then they assume because their spouse isn't their "soulmate" that they have made the wrong choice in a significant other. We have different needs as human beings; my needs as a wife, parent, and member of society were better served by my husband, and we are very happy in our marriage. Good luck to you; an interesting question for us all to consider!

There is no such thing as "soulmates" that's a mist and you can disregard that because you got it...we get infatuated!.....and long term relationship are not boring if you find a trustful partner or mate as you put it. Love comes into play in all relationships not to be confused with "soulmates".

Asking that question is like asking if you believe in love... I believe that there is someone out there for everyone.....
There's nothing wrong with being in a long term relationship its only boring if you make it boring....
But anyways there is someone out there for everyone for some we may not have met yet but theyre probably just taken a wrong turn so theyre take alittle longer then expected...

"love" is just an illusion caused by a flood of endorphines in your brain. When you and your partner experience this simultaneously, it makes it appear as if you have some profound, mystical connection. It's all lies.
There isn't anyone "out there" that's destined to be your mate, nor is there any reason to believe that you will be any more content with someone else. It's just nature's way of tricking you into making more people.

I married my soulmate. I do believe there is probably more than one compatible person for everyone, but perhaps the person you love and choose to spend your life with turns into your soulmate.

I do believe in soulmates. Its where you can see your partner everyday and feel the spark as if you've only met her for the first time.
