I have a uni degree in primary school teaching and I want to teach high school maths. I have to choose two teaching areas and I was thinking maths for one and ............ for the other.

i think u should be intelligent as much as u are already dont panic prepare algebra & a little bit of geomatry it will solve your purpose

At degree level? Big, very. In fact, enormously so. So enormous in fact, that your brain would need to be the size of an elephant that is busily eating five buckets of grease every day in order to make itself big enough to be the size needed to be able to understand even the simplest degree level question.
