Sleep occurs when the mind turns out the lights, not the eyes.
When I was in high school, my lab partner was blind... we'd be sitting in science class, and the lecture would be boring. Evryone else was chasing their eyeballs, but there my freind sat, looking so attentive and studious, eyes fixed in the direction of the teacher... and then her head would start to fall.... and I'd nudge her awake again.
It was easy for her to go to sleep. Boring class... eyes wide open... seeing nothing... And as long as she could keep her head upright, she got away with it!!

Sleep is the state of natural rest in which our body slows down. Being blind would have nothing to do with it.
