I went to a get-together recently, and this girl that is pregnant kept stroking her belly, even though she is only about 4 weeks along. I felt like she was just craving attention and wanted people to ask her about the pregnancy...and I remember seeing Gwen Stefani on TV getting interviewed at an awards show when she was pregnant...the interviewer asked her all about it...they talked for a while...then he tried to move on to her tour and her album. She kept bringing the subject back around to her pregnancy, kind of repeating herself. I am always friendly to these girls, asking them questions about how they are doing...but they never want to move on.....they just want to keep talking about themselves....am I missing something?

I just wanted to know if you have a child. It is a very natural thing for a woman to do. *LOL* I know for me it's the shock of I can't believe I'm pregnant or I feel like crap. I talk about pregnancy, but I have tried 6 years as well. There is a natural joy that many women experience and most do not do it for the attention. I especially do it alot more since I've started feeling the baby move. Also, some women just enjoy being pregnant. It's hard to explain, but it's mostly just out of joy. I can't say there may not be some that crave the attention, but the majority of moms to be are just excited and overjoyed and some just can't contain the joy they feel. Also, it is only if I'm looked at funny (because I can't eat certain things or eat weird things) that I mention pregnancy. Most of the time if I rub my stomach it's to calm my stomach down. *LOL* Also, pregnant women tend to forget a little more. I don't know how many times I have asked my hubby to remember things for me to take to my doctor to ask because I forgot something important I was supposed to ask so don't be surprised if you find a pregnant women mention something a couple times.

Some people attention seek. Actually a lot of people attention seek. Also if a pregnant women wants to tell the world about there pregnancy who cares. They are creating a miracle so why not share that with the world. Also some pregnant people right off the bat have nausea and sometimes to get through it and relax they rub there belly. Nothing wrong with that. Also some people who are pregnant just want to talk about there experiences. When your a first timer you just want to share everything.

Because they are excited and want everyone to know so they can feel special. I try to hide mine sometimes so strangers don't touch me or talk to me......I am due in 2 days so it is kinda hard to hide...but I don't ever expect anyone to be nice to me just because I am pregnant. I noticed the other day at the store while I was talking to a girl that is also pregnant (not even showing) that she kept putting her hand on her belly because I was resting my arms on mine. I would catch her looking at mine to see what I was doing! Whatever...I will just be glad when this guy is out so people can ask questions about him instead of me!!!

Apparently you have never had the wonderful experience of being pregnant. So you don't know the immense joy and proud feeling of having a life inside of you.
You would probably do the exact same thing.
Until then, it is none of your business if a pregnant woman rubs her belly or talks about it... or anthing else for that matter... because if you do ever get pregnant you will become an instant hypocrite.

A pregnant woman is the bearer of a great good news and she is all out to share and talk about it. She wants to shout out that she is going to give life. The opportunities for doing it are very few and when they get a chance the pregnant women love to linger on the topic.
A pregnant woman is also going through a special experience, she needs etra care, concern and attention.

Once the baby is born, no one will pay much attention to them for a long time to come. The kid will get it all. Might as well let 'em enjoy being the center of attention while they can.
