Which Playstation?
The PSOne is known to have problems with the disc drive, so you sometimes have to turn the console upside down.

The PS2 also has problems with the laser pickup.

However these problems are scarce compared to the mass of Playstaions out in the market.

if playstation yes.If PS2 no not really if you get a multitap and play with it all the time and for a long time it will blow out the sockets then u can't play with the multitap! but other than that its good.
