First, according to whom is Derek Jeter the best ballplayer?

Second, Jenny Finch is married, to pitcher who has had a cup of coffee or two in the show.

Third, and most important of all, you are talking only about a possible genetic advantage, but you are completely disregarding desire and person skill.

The real answer is that it would be as much of a coin toss as for any other child.

First of all Derek Jeter and Jenny Finch could not have a kid because she is currently in a relationship and he is currently gay. If a softball player and a baseball player had a kid they would probably encourage the child to play the sport more than other parents would. This would probably be the only advantage the child had, the extra encouragement and pressure to carry on a legacy.

The kid may have some talent, but I don't think talent works the same way as say, hair color or eye color. No matter what athletes his parents were, that doesn't neccessarily mean he would possess the raw talent they have.

But on that same note, even if he DID, that doesn't mean he would automaticly be the most incredible baseball player ever. LOTS of people are born with natural talent, but only a select few have the discipline to develop that talent enough to succeed. You can't do well in sports by just relying on raw talent, and if you do, it won't last long. You still have to practice and work just as hard as anyone else to polish and develop your skills. Remember that ever-so-classic Spider-Man line - "With great power comes great responsibility". If you've been blessed with natural talent, that only means you must work all the harder to fully develop that talent to be all that it can be. Otherwise you'll end up as one of those washed up Uncle Rico's from Napoleon Dynamite :-P.

Jenny Finch is married to Casey Daigle, a pitcher for the AZ Diamondbacks. It remains to be seen if he will ever be a great pitcher...but they had a boy last year, named Ace. Seems promising, eh?
