I will be in London ...April 03 to April 12. and need a room/place to rent for just this short time. I was shocked at how expensive hotels are. and it would be great if someone could point in the right direction. Just a simple room will be fine. nothing fancy.but neat off course. Thanks for your help.

Try the St James Hotel, a quarter mile from Buckingham Palace, 15 minutes from Pall Mall, 20 minutes from Parliament Buildings. It's a comfortable hotel close to everything in the City of London.

London is expensive and there's some great suggestions here including Gumtree.

The problem is that you can't trust what you're getting and London's accommodation can be pretty poor for the price.

The cheapest hotels start at around 25 pounds a night per room for 2, in Earls Court or Victoria. For the small extra amount, Victoria is more central for walking to attractions and will save you on fares.

Don't give up, look at this website and sort by price, location and facilities. You may save with the free inclusions on last minute deals such as location ( transport costs ), meals ( maybe a breakfast ) and also obtain a cheap rate. There is some share accommodation available, and heck .... you might even meet some great folks.

If there's a couple of you going, remember the prices are per room, so this can help you save as well.

But i agree, London is very expensive and compared to most other places the value for money with accommodation is much less also.

Here's some links

Good Luck with your planning
