In the UK you can get a copy of your marriage certificate either from the local district registrar in which the marriage took place, or you can apply centrally from the General Register Office in Smedley Hydro, Southport (www.gro.gov.uk). Applications can be made at the latter by post, telephone or online. Applications can be made at your local registrars office in person, and in some cases certificates can be supplied while you wait.
The difficult bit is knowing the reference number for your certificate so it can be found in the vaults. You don't need this, but it does make the process easier and the online price slightly cheaper. I could explain the process in detail, but would make the process sound more complicated than it really is.
As much information needs to be provided as possible for a search, which at a local level MUST include the precise location of the wedding as this is how they are indexed together - by individual church or register office. This is a quirk of the wedding registers - births and deaths are arranged differently. The fee is about £7.
I'm a family historian and could get anybodies certificate within a week, including yours if I was that way inclined. It is not difficult. Honest.

You will need to go to the registry of births death and marriages in the area you were married in. There is a small fee for the service but it's not usually much.
You will need to take several peices of documentation with you , driving licence , birth certificate etc (The more the better)
