Should it be with someone my own age, who is equally unexperienced? Or is it better to go a little older and be with someone who knows what they're doing?

I think its best to do it your first time with someone who will be gentle and you trust or even love.

Someone more experienced can provide knowledgeable tips and tricks but if you have an unexperienced partner that you like, study documentation together, get condoms and lubricants (the modern silicon based last forever!) and enjoy the discovery together. Go slow, take your time, experiment and enjoy !

Age does not matter. My First time was with an older guy, but he was "str8". He was not much good. Now I am with someone 4 yrs younger than me and oh my it is great.
My suggestion is make sure that you like this person and you are sure about it. It must not be just lust. The feelings make it that bit better. That's my opinion anyway.

Good question. I can only respond based on personal experience.
I had my first experience with a dude that I liked a lot, not only physically, but mentally. I was nervous anyway, but he helped me get past that, because I felt comfortable being with him.
My point is, it's probably better to have your first experience with someone you really like and know well , regardless of age or experience.

I'm told the experienced partner is the best. There are some things inexperienced people can't learn to do right without a teacher. Worse, they may do something quite wrong and leave a bad taste in their mouths for some time afterward.

First time, I'd say with someone your own age so that you can experience the nervousness of it together.
I was 29 and my partner was 40 though so I went with the older route.

either...i was lucky enough to find somebody who knew what he was doing and he was way more experienced than I. He made the fireworks go off the first time.

older cause he will know what to do, but make sure he's not a troll out to seduce you. play hard to get for several weeks. if he is willing to wait for you then you will know it is right.
