I'm no scientist but...

I believe the water comes from rain water absorbed into the ground, you know the water cycle. I think they're fresh because they are underground and not exposed to the environment in such a way to become "stale".

Can't wait for the scientific answer.

Springs are the places where water from underground aquafers comes to the surface. It is fresh, for the moment, because these aquafers are deep underground. That is why it is so important not to pollute the ground or the water -it will seep into the ground and poison our water supply.

it's fresh coz it's been filtered through the ground. polluted ground like say in industrial dump sites have toxic groundwater.

its fresh because, the soil, clay, etc naturally filters the water to make it clean.
