Don't do the normal step by step crap. Everyone just ends up sounding the same. Figure out what music made you want to play guitar in the first place-learn that-then maybe the music that inspired your heroes. Practice till it hurts. Dig deep in your soul and pull out notes that scream about who you are and want to be, the way your world is and how you are going to change it! Enjoy music! Just practice-it will all come together.

My first song on a guitar was Down In The Valley... I played it extremely slow, while my poor bf tried to sing e-x-t-r-e- m-e-l-y slow to "keep up" with me as I made chord changes.

Here.. I found a page that has the lyrics AND the tune.

depends on your age and what you listen too.

Younger-Green Day's songs are VERY easy, usually just 3 powere chords will get you through.

Older-KISS has some pretty easy song, as does AC/DC. Go with the songs YOU LIKE and learn them. Take lessons if you need to.
