Uttar Pradesh 166,052,859 - Highest State Population
Sikkim 540,493 - Lowest State Population

Acco. to the latest census, the indian state of
Highest populations - West bengal, Maharashtra, Uttarpradesh, Bihar and Madhya pradesh
and highest density is West bengal (904 per meter square)
Lowest populations - Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal pradesh, Mizoram
and lowest density is Arunachal Pradesh (13 per meter square)

uttar pradesh has the largest population and Sikkim has the lowest population.
but actually according to the population according to density west Bengal has the highest population.
