i am very interested in the project in the link above.

main question: how much do you think all these materials would cost?

I'm in California and I'm looking to buy from Home Depot, or Lowes if that makes a difference.

Also, are there any other links to similar projects?

thanks!

Okay, I'll be brave enough to actually give a price.. The plywood will be the most expensive part of this project, about $40. per sheet. My best ballpark guess for this playhouse is somewhere in the $300.00-$500.00 range.

By the way, why do you hate Phil Collins, other than that he's a hypocrite.

I looked over the plans and material list, if you build it using the materials that they recommend, I think you will spend at least $500.00. I have to be honest with you, and tell you that being that you have never built anything before, which you stated in you question that I think this will require more experience than you have. Not by a little but, by allot. Now on the other hand if you have someone to help you that does have some experience then that is a different matter. I know I went beyond what you asked in your question, and if you are offended or disagree I apologize....From someone who has built many such projects. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Well if you follow the suggestions and materials list I just saw in that link you need not have come here. No offense.
Print out that page/pages and take the materials list to HD or Lowes. You might even find someone at the service counter willing to help you PRICE the materials from their work station comp.
It isn't Rocket Science, and the site is pretty detailed. That doesn't promise YOUR outcome will be the same, but take your time, do what is suggested, and I assume any children using the project after the fact, won't be too critical.

First off the plywood will cost probably $15-20 a sheet of 4x8. Looks like 5 pieces of 2" x 4"-8' PT at around $5-6 each. roughly looks like 18 pieces of 2" x 4" - 8" for the interior framing at about $3.00 each. Roofing, OSB, 2 sheets at about $7 each, roll of underlayment at $16.00 and shingles at about$12.00. The pine flooring 16 pieces of 1"x6"-6' about $5.00 each. T1-11 4 sheets at about $15-18.
With these estimates, I figure your lumber/roofing will come to about $300.00.
To be sure bring in the plans and HD can give you a better quote.

You save you have ever built anything...did you mean never built anything? This is one seriously ambitious project, my dear.

Anyway, California prices will be higher, just like the normal cost of living is. Trek on over to either of the two stores you mentioned....the lumber departments will help you and give you a decent estimate on everything from the wood to the nails.

Take the materials list into where you plan to buy from and they will give you a quote.

California eh? I would check local building codes before you get too committed to the project.

Go in and ask them if they'll give you an estimate on the materials.
