I have two choices on where to do my bachelors in Chemical Englineering

1) Go to Mcgill University in Canada
2) Go to the university of Manchester in England

It would be more practical to study in Canada because it is so much cheaper than England but People have been telling me that there is a certain stigma that people have about graduates from Canada, that it is not as respected as studying in the UK ( even though Mcgill is ranked higher than the University of Manchester) .

Is this is true ?

I'm a Canadian working in the US. I haven't had any issues with my Canadian engineering degree from UVic.

I think most companies that are great to work at will look past wether you got your degree in the US or UK.

Also, any company that is biased might not foster a multi-cultural environment. You would have a handicap anyways by not being a local UK citizen.

Besides, Montreal is a great place to live and go to school. Way more fun that Manchester...I've been to both and would choose Montreal every time hands down.

I have never experienced any sort of 'stigma' about my Canadian degree (from the University of Toronto)...nor has anybody that I have known with a degree from any reputable Canadian University. On the contrary....Canadian degrees are respected and accepted as being valid and worthwhile anywhere I have been...or anyone I have talked to.
