I am in the process of buying a Laptop. The laptop that I am looking at is the Toshiba Satellite P100/S00 Notebook. What I am not sure about is the screen size I should get. Should I get: a 15 Inch Laptop or a 17 Inch Laptop.
Which is better??? And do issues such as performance, Battery usage, size and portability come into consideration?

The website for the specifications of the Toshiba Satellite P100/S00 Notebook is:

Thank you.

15 inch as it will be lighter and easier to carry around. It is a laptop after all, it's supposed to fit on your lap. If you want a big monitor then get a desktop.

Yes, those all come into consideration. If you think you'll constantly be traveling with your laptop or carrying it with you, you might consider the 15". However if you'll HARDLY carry it with you then the 17" is fine. I actually have both a 17" and a 14", not Toshiba though, they're HP's. I use the 14" as my portable laptop..and the 17" as my "home computer". Since you're buying just the one..i'd say get the 15"..if you're a business man, commute from work to home everyday and need your laptop. Battery usage shouldn't be a problem unless you plan on having to use it battery-powered for more than an hour or two. Performance doesn't sound like it'll be a problem because intel core duo processor 1 GB ram and 100 GB hard drive? Sounds pretty sweet.

The rumor that college desks are small is such a myth, unless your university hasn't been updated since 1955. I am in college and love my 15.4" notebook. . The desk sizes at my university are much bigger than what is required for a 15.4' laptop. The size is great. Its not so heavy that you'll not want to carry it around campus but its just big enough so that you have a decent screen size to watch movies on in your dorm

i got a similar satellite laptop...and got the 17" screen. it's nice. i mostly use it for personal use (ie. movies, photos, graphic editing, music, games etc...)...if that's your usage, i'd def get the 17"...

but if your using it for biz...i suggest the 15". it's still big, but won't weigh as much when you draggin' it from airport to airport. most of your work if presented will be put onto a projector.

I just got a new laptop a couple weeks ago. I opted for the smaller 15.4 in widescreen because it was smaller, lighter and easier to lug around. Plus it cost a little bit less.

17 inch laptop looks better, so if you do not have budget constraint go for 17 inch laptop
