Because once they discredit the republicans and take over government they can get back to wealth redistribution.

They have to have Iraq be a defeat of republican policy for that reason.

In our civil war many times 3000 soldiers died in a single day. In WWII and WWI the casualties were in the 100s of thousands.

Now the democrats have to redefine failure and unacceptable cost to be less than 1% of the american lives we paid in past conflicts.

If it was 300 or even 30 american lives lost in Iraq the left would still be calling it a failure. They want to take over that much.

You know, some people say that George Bush helped Al-Qaeda by going into Iraq, and that 9/11 was most likely orchestrated to provoke an over-reaction from the US, so that the US would go into the Middle East, upset many people, and drive them into the arms of terrorists, thus using them to embarrass the US in the form of multiple American deaths. If driving up recruitment doesn't embolden Al-Qaeda & undermine the US military, and is not part of Al-Qaeda strategy, I would be happy. I'm not happy.

Many people are scared. The fear or terror of the situation that we as a people find ourselves in (the many deaths resulting from conflicts)..and the perception of the premise and correlation that if we remove our troops from foreign soil, that attacks will not happen at home). It is this fear and terror..that is at the heart of the terrorists of Al Qaeda agenda. Telling someone not to be scared is easy...providing enough of a sense of security so people wont feel the fear is another thing all together.

why don't you explain, because i can say the exact same thing about cons, and it would be totally applicable. IE, by allowing the us troops to harass the Iraqis and torture the POWs W/O punishment of the higher ups. or sending all those troops over there w/o adiquite body armor, but sending a 30 billion dollar stealth aircraft halfway around the world to drop one payload of bombs? and they are validating Al Queda by eroding our freedoms, the exact thing the terrorists want, the erosion of the freedoms and rights this country is great for.
