BBC pays highly paid presenters even more money to present the holiday show. Why cann't they ask ordinary families who have never had any holidays or the children who parents can not afford a holiday to go on such holiday programmes. I know they are not professional, but with BBC help they show the same advantages as the next man ,and after all they are the licence payers.

I know I just watched some programmes about trying to teach minor celebs to be rangers and I couldn't enjoy it as I kept thinking how much of the licence fee it was using. They get a two week all expences paid holiday !!!!!!

When the BBC show an article about a holiday destination they show a series of short clips about all the things you can see and do in a place right? And as a viewer you imagine that the rest of the time the presenter got to just loaf about enjoying the holiday yeah? Say they film the presenter on the beach for a minute and then having lunch up a mountain for 30 seconds? You imagine the presenter spent the rest of the day on the beach until lunch then switched location? Probably not the case, it might have taken two hours to film the minute on the beach, and hour to travel up the mountain and then 30minutes to film the lunch scene. Presenters are paid because they don't get a chance to enjoy the holiday, they just get filmed doing what you see them doing on TV. An ordinary family who can't afford to go on holiday would have to do the same thing but doing the filming would take longer because they are not professional. I'm speaking form experience here too, I've seen TV shows filmed and this is how it usually works.

I think you'd need to direct your question to the Producer of the show, to see what their remit and objectives are.

Maybe your letter would help get you chosen for a future show, if you seem to be positively suggesting an improvement to their show. If you think about it, people who have holidayed before will be more predictable than those who haven't. This predictability will be somewhat important, to ensure that the costs of sending a camera crew etc, overseas are not wasted. The BBC is certainly having to control its costs, though Jonathan Ross is paid stupid money.

On the other hand, it could lead to stale programmes, with less variety, if formulaic travellers - the same old kind of people - are sought and used alone for shows.

Good luck! Rob

You could always go on Holiday Showdown, you'd get a holiday then, but you have to share it with another family, it usually turns in to a blood bath.
