hey all,
i bought a 30gb ipod video in december last yr. up to now, i still have the whole sheet of plastic protector on it, but some of it is peeling off and making it look bad. Ive also been using a rubber protector that the ipod is put into. Havent used the supplied cloth-like pouch that came with it in the box.

I want to take the plastic bit off, but ive heard and seen ipod videos become scratched so easily and gradually just looks bad.

What should i do. Ive also heard that the supplied ipod fabric pouch can scratch the ipod, is this true

I highly recommend getting the iSkin eVo3 or Claro. I have the eVo3 on mine and it's great. It completely protects the iPod, including the screen and click wheel. It also has a removable rotating clip. The Claro has a slimmer silicon layer than the eVo3, but has a hard outer case that goes around it. The link below has more info on them. You can get them cheaper on eBay. The seller I got 2 from is covercase. They had the cheapest price, so I bought 2(one for mine and one for my girlfriend's).

The original screen film was never intended to remain on the iPod once you've taken it out of the package. It's just to ensure that the screen arrives scratch-free to the consumer. Now, since the Video has an acrylic screen, it will scratch really easily once you've taken the screen film off. It probably won't involve deep gouges, but a few little tiny scratches and scuffs will show up every time you slide a piece of cloth over it (or tuck it into your pocket).

To avoid this, go buy a real screen guard. These are clear adhesive sheets that are somewhat rigid, will stay on long-term (you will have to purposefully peel them off to remove them, where the original film will just roll off if you tuck it into your pocket a few times), and will resist scratches more than the acrylic screen will. And when they do eventually get scuffed up enough that you can't stand looking at the screen, you can just peel it off and slap a fresh new screen guard on.

My friend has an iPod nano and she bought a cover that is soft plastic (like rubber) and becaue it's thick the iPod doesn't get scratched. There are many colors for this cover so you can buy them and I think it'll be able to protect the iPod. However, if you are referring to the screen and the round stuff (to move up, down etc.).

I think you can keep the plastic protector (that came when u bought it) and put the rubber cover on top of it so the screen won't get scratched either.

yes the supplies can if it hits the ipod just right, and i would sim ply get a silicone case for it. plastic cases are tacky, and film screen protectors are just really cheap. the silicone cases usually dont have a screen protector, but if you search diligently you can find one. also i boughta super nice flip top leath carrying case for my 30gig video, and i love it. i got it off www.eforcity.com for a really good price
