I was told this evening that the person found it odd to discover (through our conversation) that I had thought and compassion for stangers I don't know. I most certaintly have feelings and care for people close in my life . . . Yet, the person found it ' unusual ' that I would have care or thought for a person I did'nt know.

What is your thought on that ? Am I ' odd ' to feel care or give thought to people I just see on the ' street ' that seem ' offset ' or homeless. I strongly feel that those persons should, at one point, strive to better themselfs. Yet, at the same time I know they have ' their own story ' of how they came to that ' place ' . . . thus I feel compassion and care for them.

Your thoughts ?

In Africa, there's a concept called UBUNTU and everyone cares for each other. We should try it here!

Well your are just being a kind soul.It is ok to care for people you do not know.If you think that your action seems odd, what about people doing volunteer work ? They also do not know the people yet they are helping them. So put it that way, it could be a bad thing to have a kind heart. Your heart melts whenever you sees such thing.
Cool :)

What kind of world would we live in if people didn't care for one another. It is sad that because of safety reasons, due to the high crime rate in our society, people often shy away from strangers that are dirty or look like a shady character when in fact they are just people down on their luck. I admit that I don't often go up to men on the street and give them food or money when I am alone or with my child. I feel much safer doing that when my husband is with me; however I too feel compassion for others and like to lend a helping hand when I can. Being caring and compassionae for others are wonderful qualities to posess, and I truly believe that there are many other people like us, the people who called you odd are just not one of them. I'd stay away from people like that, and surround yourself with others who share your same wonderful qualities. It was nice to respond to such a kind, compassionate person.
