That's kind of a loaded question. Are you writing an essay or something? Well, I would definitely talk about the relation of money and wealth to greed. And the development of a desire of wealth among humans has created wars and political systems and a number of other things. On the flip side too, there is a lot of aid given to third world countries because wealth, through greed, has been concentrated among a small group in the world. I guess the greed breeds guilt which leads to humanitarianism (but then leads to the question of whether or not guilty humanitarianism is a valid development in humanity, etc.).

Ooh, I love the topic. I would love to write an essay on this. Mmm.

uhhh well I suppose economics have developed a long way over civilization and it has developed alongside technology. First there was the bartering system where one individual will trade an item for another with another individual. Then I guess there was a basic coinage system which helped individual countries gain some wealth because people would want to invest in a very strong currency. Then as technology develops, we get ships and ships can transport goods from faraway places like from the East to Italy (spices). So, economics played an important role in developing national identities. We gradually approach the industrial age (skipping a lot of time here) and finally we have the modern era in which goods can be mass-produced and the principles like supply and demand, and elasticity take over and basically govern our entire economy (excluding gov't control over monopolies). I understand this is a extremely curt way of simplifying a very intricate process, but I really have no desire to write a doctoral dissertation here.

It all started at the root of civilization when primitive men started hunting and making tools then some where better hunters, while some were more talented with tools. In absence of money, men started the first economic system- barter economy through exchange of goods they needed, ie trading meat for tools etc..
As civilization progressed into the 18th century and beyond, the industrial revolutions occurred to sustain the increasing desires for higher living standards. The replacement of manual labour with the manufacture of machinery, and hence mechanization of other industries. Trade expansion was enabled by opening of canals, improvement of roads and railways. With increased capital, innovations and knowledge, industrialization have spread across Europe and the West, economic growth and development have thrived there, whereas other parts of the world have lagged behind, and there's been a gap between developed countries and LDC. Developing countries then became dependant on the developed economies for their own progress & growth. International trade became important due the countries'' differences in comparative costs'in production of diverse goods.Globalization has made production efficient, increase wealth and have made goods widely available to support supply & demands.
