I hope to borrow someone's rooster for as brief as I can to breed. The Yodelling will get me arrested, so brevity is necessary. I'm hoping a day or two will do. But I fear a hen will need a pairing each day to create an entire fertilized clutch. So the question is: Can a whole family come from a one night stand:?

One mating provides enough sperm to fertilize eggs for about 5 days. Some breeds of chickens lay nearly an egg a day, some far less, so the number of chicks you get per mating depends partly on which breed you have. Can you bring the hen to the rooster and leave her there for a few hours each week? Also, it isn't difficult to artificially inseminate a hen, but getting the sperm from the rooster requires the rooster to have a willing temperment. :) However, poultry semen can't be frozen, and since you'd have to visit the rooster once a week anyway, you might as well bring your hen along and save everyone an extra step.

I dont' believe you would have to pair her off each day, the boy bird will do just fine on his own pace.It might be better for the hen to spice it up with an extra boy bird. Unless its possible to invitrofertilize a chicken with the use of science. It depends on how many eggs she lays and if he fertilizes them.

Chickens come into season and are fastened via a chicken. The eggs they lay are consequently fertilised and while a batch is laid over a era, the chicken sits on them till they hatch out. it is the conventional way. on the different hand, eggs that are laid via the chickens that the chicken has fastened, could nicely be put in an incubator and hatched out that way.
