When we were kids, cartoons were only on Saturday mornings, and some on Sunday too. We appreciated what cartoons were available.
Cartoons in those days were entirely made by hand and film. No computers, so the "human element" with pure talent was completely there.
Oh, and some cartoons were shown on the weekdays, if a holiday was near. Most of the never-ending popular classics today were from the old days. Frosty, Charlie Brown, Grinch etc...

I agree with you that classic cartoons are more fun and light hearted than the stuff they show today. However, I don't think it is proper to call anyone names, not even a cartoon character.
