The STS came out in 2005.

The Seville which it replaced was front-wheel-drive. It was also WAAAAY too big to be front wheel drive. And it was a sedan.

The Lincoln Mark VIII was a coupe. It was based on a modified version of the RWD MN12 platform from the Thunderbird/Cougar. And it was by FAR the faster car. The LSC was capable, with minor modifications (taping up seams, removing side mirrors, setting suspension as low as it would go) was capable of over 180 mph.

With a STOCK POWERTRAIN, Lincoln got one up to over 180 (IIRC, 183) at Bonneville Salt Flats.

I don't think there's any contest. Unless you gotta have four doors, it's the Lincoln by a mile.
