They're both liars and crooks.

At least Nixon was competent though.

I have not read the book, but plan to.

"Who?" does not say if he read the book but does say, ".... Bush and Nixon are two totally different people with different presidencies."

Yes, they're different people - different parents, and everything. Different Presidencies (that's capitalized, BTW for the office of President of the United States), 37th & 43rd .

But there are many, many similarities:

Both were/are extremely arrogant, to the point they thought they were better than the American People who hired them.

Both trampled upon the Constitution they swore to "protect and defend."

Both had Vice Presidents of highly dubious character, integrity, honor, and legality (speaking of Agnew, not Ford).

Both used a war to serve their own purposes at the cost of many American and foreign lives.

Both had administrations that were/are extremely secretive and suspicious.

Both attempted to elevate the power of the Presidency, the Executive Branch, above the other two Constitutionally equal branches of government, the Legislative and Judical branch.

Both attempted to use the Judicial branch to reshape the Constitution to meet their own personal and professional goals.

Both were considered to be deserving of impeachment by a majority of Americans, though both manage(d) to avoid impeachment.

Both finally were forced to face a challenge from the American People to their abuses of the Office of President.

One difference: Although both will be remembered in history for their abuses of power, Nixon did accomplish some very positive things for the American People and the World, and regained some measure of credibility before his death. Bush has not accomplished anything for the American People in general, only for the very wealthy, including leaders and shareholders of the largest corporations in the world, at the cost of record deficits in the trillions that will have to be paid by future generations.

There are just a few similarities between Nixon and Bush, from an American Veteran who has lived through both Presidencies.

God save America!

Hee! The guy above me confused Nixon's White House Counsel with Jimmy Dean the sausage guy.

I haven't read the book yet, but I checked it out on Amazon and you can read an excerpt for free, so I did. Looks fascinating!
