i need some ideas as to what qualities make up a good teacher?

They need to be interested in the subject matter they are teaching, care about students, and recognize that not all students learn in the same way, so that they can find multiple ways of explaining the same concept.

Being able to take a concept, and demonstrate it not only in words but in a picture or image or real life event. (speaking as a college student on an engineering degree program)
