If you only plan to play 360 games on the system it will only cost you around £20 to enable you to play them because to be honest all you really require is a memory card.

For $100 less, the core package comes with (1) wired controller, standard A/V cable, and the console, while the premium system throws in extra goodness like the hard drive, remote, HD cables, and a wireless controller.

The hard drive alone retails at about $100. The playback remote is $30, the HD cable retails for $40, and the wireless controllers are $50 each. (Prices quoted from www.xbox.com) Granted, you can purchase the items you need for your demand on a site like Ebay or Amazon, but then you're either going to get used or probably exceed the $100 difference after just the hard drive and wireless remote is purchased.

I love the wireless controller, but they do go through AA batteries pretty quick if they aren't rechargable. It's always handy to have a DVD remote for any system even if you don't plan on using it for DVDs right now. It is still fuctional as a Media Center Controller.

The only way you can save games and downloads is if you use the 360 HDD or a memory card. You can connect a USB hard drive as read-only for media playback, however. The only really trivial item is the HD Cable, but any decent TV manufatured after about 2004 will probably have Component Inputs, even if it's not HD.

The core package only comes with the xbox360 which cant play regular xbox games and it doesnt come with a harddrive and instead of the wireless controller it comes with a wired one. The premium comes with a headset.
The core system doesnt come with HD component cables.
It would cost $100 to upgrade.

The core just comes as you know with what you have.

The premium comes with

-20 GB Hard Drive
-Headset
-Faceplate
-Xbox Live 30 Day Gold Trial.

Mostly, it is about the harddrive because the hard drive itself costs a $100.
