You can take a class together with him, or you could take a beginner class as a leader (studios are usually fine with it, night clubs might be OK but depends, community colledge classes are OK with it too), or maybe still take a class as a follower but really pay attention to what the teacher says to the leaders and don't worry about follower's part. Explain the music, explain the hold and the basic step, explain the underarm turn. I'm sure you can reverse-engineer those if you have been dancing for awhile. (Just think when he is supposed to release his right arm, when he's supposed to give the signal with his left arm, and how it corresponds with the music and footwork. ) This is usually the lesson #1 to all beginners.

you will not be able to learn online. It is however a great dance. Any latin dance that you do, you must do with great passion. Go to youtube.com type in salsa dancing in a search and you might be able to get an idea off of there.
