Not really, shrooms are nowhere near as effective as acid for the mind altering states. An acid trip seems real and can affect you for the rest of your life (although for a lot of people it doesn't have any long term effects) whilst you know what you're seeing on mushrooms isn't real and it I don't think it can traumatise you at all.

It can, but there are a lot of things that can alter your perspective, one day you can just wake up changed, trauma from near death experiences also can do this, I myself prefered LSD for my life (and mind) altering experiences though. But know that there are other ways to get a different perspective on your own life to see what if anything needs to be changed.

Shrooms seem much safer than LSD, but still a life-changing experience. You better be prepared (have a happy, positive attitude) and have good friends participating as well to ensure you'll come out of the experience in one piece (life-changing doesn't always mean 'bad'-- ask Timothy Leary).

If you do enough of them they can alter you right into permanent placement in a mental facility. Then the fun will really start.
