Put simply, you will need to connect your cassette player to your PC soundcard, then play the cassette whilst recording on your PC. A step-by-step guide is available at:

The recording software is the key, there are some free software downloads available at:

I have used ‘Magix Audio Cleaning Lab’ and ‘Audacity’ – Audacity is particularly popular since it is free!
If you record to WAV format, expect file sizes of around 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 (at 128kbps).
Once you have your digital versions of the recording on your PC, simply burn them on to a CD (Nero burning software or similar..). If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD for you without needing additional software (assuming you have a CD writing drive of course!)
You can also download a free PDF version of the step-by–step guide from the download page mentioned above, the guide is complete with diagrams and screen-shots
Hope this helps

Get a cassette deck and a set of RCA to 1/8" stereo plugs. Connect Cassette to sound card input in back (probably) of your computer. Music Match is good software for capturing the audio. (about $20). There's probably lots of other programs, some free, maybe. It's just what I use. There's a lot of info on the internet.

Sony's Sound Forge is good for trimming/cleaning/enhancing files, but it is/was pretty pricey. One thing, though. Analog to digital occurs in "real-time" so if the tape's 90-mins, it'll take at least that long just to transfer it. Then there's the hiss you want to get rid of, or maybe a song got cut at the wrong time, etc.. It's usually best to either get the CD or find a suitable source (friends, libraries, eBay, swap meets, etc..) unless you have serious time on your hands.

Otherwise, if you don't have a suitable computer, there are stand-alone Cassette to CD recorders. They operate in real-time but I think they automatically shut down when they're done.

You'll need a cassette player with a line-out on it, to plug into the line-in on a sound card on your pc. Then I'd recommend downloading a free program called "Audacity", (at the below link). It has the capacity to record audio from a line-in source. Once you have the music on your hard drive, you then use a program to burn the CD with the music.

Connect the output from your cassette player to your sound card. Then play the cassette and record on your computer at the same time. Save the file and burn to a CD.

That's the general way to do it. Search online for more.

All you desire is a undeniable kind of cable. connect one end to the audio out socket of the tape participant, so the sound being performed is being sent down the cable. connect the different end to the Audio in socket of your sound card in the lower back of your computing gadget. Then flow to any application you have put in this is able to recording sound in the format you desire, press checklist at this methodology and play on the tape participant, and depart the two machines going for the dimensions of the tape. whilst it fairly is finished, provide up the two machines, disconnect them from one yet another, flow lower back into this methodology and crop the recording to the dimensions you desire (to cut back out the bits on the initiating and end once you weren't recording something), and "shop as" to create a sparkling record (incase you're making a mistake in the crop) interior of diverse format you desire. Now you have a digital audio record to do with as you please. considerable: Following those training will produce a clearer, greater high quality, extra expert sounding, extra decrease priced, and extra fairly made sound record. using a microphone will create important interference and any history noise you will possibly create on a similar time as the audio is being recorded, and a microphone is extra costly than slightly cable. it is going to artwork completely in spite of what kind of computing gadget you have, and / or what kind of cassette participant / recorder you have. finally, the specific kind of cable I communicate with could be latest in any low end electronics shop. it must confirm despite the fact that it fairly is not uncommon. this is rarely seen, yet in simple terms beacuse it fairly is function is to connect 2 unrelated gadgets, a reasonably uncommon desire.
