oxidative respiration is aerobic respiration.

Invovles electron transport chain / oxidative phosphorylation

oxygen acts as a final electron acceptor of the electron transport chain.

in the absence of oxygen, there is nothing to accept the electrons, thus the electron transport chain cannot continue to accept high energy electrons from NADH and FADH2 since there is accumulation of electrons.

This leads to a stop of oxidative phosphorylation

hence oxidatve respiration cannot occur without oxygen...

well.. oxidative Respiration unable to occur with out oxygen, as it needs oxygen for it to work....unless it is anaerobic (absence of oxygen) respiration or fermentation. As Oxidative Respiration is the second stage of celluar respiration.
