Does anybody know why they're killing out the main character on this hit tv drama?

To allow her to talk to her mother Ellis who has Alzheimers before her mother dies and Meredith is revived to find out it was not just a dream.

they won't kill off Meredith, but it looks like they are considering a spin-off and giving Kate Walsh her own show. That's what the rumors are.
Who knows who they will kill off. They keep advertising a "devistating episode" making TV history. They did that with JR Ewing (how many years ago) and it turned out an entire season was a dream sequence. Who KNOWS. just waiting to watch it tomorrow night and see what happens. Maybe none of the pivotal characters (interns and Dr's will die as all expect). Possibly her mom during her surgery, or it's possible that "devistating" is referring to all the loved ones who are realizing they have lost family members, or maybe the cute little blond that has followed Meredith around for the last 2 episodes dies somehow. All are "devistating"

They aren't. Heard that it is only a near death experience, but someone else will die on next episode.
